Everyone in the free world spends the first few days of a new year thinking what about they want to do with the coming months. People set goals. They make plans. They take stock. It’s a natural time to make changes if there are areas of your life that need improvement. So here’s what I’m going to do with mine.
First and foremost, I am going to get back to focusing on my health. The last two to three months of 2012 were a mess from that standpoint. I let emotions get the best of me in October, and then my Thanksgiving I figured, “I’ll just try not to gain.” Well, guess what? I gained 7 pounds back. 7 pounds of biscuits and gravy, turkey, green bean casserole, and desserts. I’m not even a dessert person. What the hell? Anyway, I gave myself the day off on the 1st and started fresh yesterday with working out. It felt great. This morning, I had already talked myself into using an “off day” today (I give myself one or two a week). Shortly after, I was sitting on the couch with my “bucket o’ coffee” as Guitar Dude calls it, and I came across a link to this post on Facebook. I felt like he was speaking directly to me. He was speaking directly to me. I got my butt up off the couch and got to it. I’m going to bookmark that page for inspiration whenever I need it, and I’m sure there will be plenty of other days when I will need it. Today, I’m good thanks to that post.
(Y’all know you missed my long-winded babbling!)
The second really huge thing I’m doing this year is re-launching my photography business to include people. I always shied away from doing “people pictures” because I thought I didn’t want to, but it turns out I actually love it and am even pretty decent at it. I’m in the process of setting up a home studio that should be ready to go by the end of January. I love the outdoors and much prefer harnessing natural light for sessions, but a studio is necessary for infants and children. I have some ridiculously cute ideas and I just know the whole thing is going to look amazing. I’m so excited about what the future holds in this area of my life! Now, who wants to come help paint? I’ll take your picture. How can you resist that?
The last thing I’m going to accomplish this year is consistently posting to my blog, which I love doing and have missed greatly the last month or so. I can’t tell you what will show up here, and I’m not silly enough to promise posting every day or anything, but I love y’all and will be here with my randomness more often. That I can promise.
