Our Critters

We’re animal people in this house, and we have the numbers to prove it! When I met Jim, we both had cats. So when we moved in together, we had even more cats! Cats are furry.  Cats are fun. Cats are good for everyone.  Except when they throw up.

Here’s our brood of pets:

Introducing Loki…

Loki Laughing

Loki thinks it's funny to mess with Smokey...

Loki thinks it’s funny to torture Smokey.  Loki also loves getting treats, licking the condensation from McDonald’s cups and drinking from the hall bathroom sink.  She hated Sweetpea until three other cats moved into town, but now they stick together.  A united front.  Unless there’s a sink involved.  Then it’s war.

Next we have Smokey…

Smokey

About as much humor as Smokey can muster...

Smokey hates Loki.  Loki hates Smokey.  Smokey is the mama to Fignuts and PT, but she doesn’t like Fignuts.  She’ll only play with PT, and every once in a while Sweetpea, but only if no one’s looking.  Otherwise, Smokey hates Sweetpea.  Smokey is a complicated kitty, but we love her all the same.

And then there’s Puddy Tat, aka PT…

Puddy Tat

PT hearts her blankie...

PT is the squawker.  And she looooooves her blankie.  Well, it’s really my blankie, made for me by my mama, but PT has adopted it.  If you try to take it from her, she squawks until you put it back.  She also squawks when she wants you to come pet her on it.  She likes to squawk.  Any reason will do.

And the boy, Fignuts…yes, that said Fignuts.

Fignuts

Fignuts is...

Fignuts is expecting treats.  And he’ll be around shortly for his afternoon pets.  He’s laid back, doesn’t require much and prefers to sleep alone.  He’s the dude.  Man.  He doesn’t care for his mom, his sister really hates him for some reason, but Loki and Sweetpea are alright by him.  He’s cool like that.

And then there’s Sweetpea…

Sweetpea

Stop taking my picture.

I got Sweetpea from the Humane Society.  She set me up.  She curled up so sweetly, purring and acting like a lap cat… until I got her home.  Uh-huh.  Now she tolerates me petting her… when she wants.  And only if I do it right.  Sweeptea loves to pick on Loki because Loki is the only cat that mildly tolerates her… so why not push her luck?  That’s just how she rolls.

Last but not least, Sweetpea’s fish… Duder 3. Duder 4. Duder 5.

I had aquariums for years, and I love them but they’re a lot of work.  So, after I moved to Georgia, I got a little one gallon tank set up and Duder, or El Duderino if you’re not into the whole brevity thing.  Not long after I got Duder 1, I got Sweetpea.  Sweetpea took over fish duty.  Duder 1 didn’t last long.  We’re on Duder 3, and this one seems to have a lot of spunk.  He’s perfect for Sweetpea.  Duder 2 and Duder 3 have come and gone, and now we’re on Duder 4.  Now Duder 5.

I’ve given up on Duders and set up my full sized aquarium, again, because apparently it’s a lot easier to keep a half dozen fish alive than it is to keep one alive.
